Hello there, I'd like to personally welcome you to The Lost Isle. The Lost Isle is a webpage dedicated to the history of Age of Empires and Age of Kings. We also include News, Lost Units and Lost Buildings, units that never quite made it into the final version of AoE/AoK.

New Look Over At ES!

That's right, the Archangel over at Ensemble Studios has created a new look for the ES site. It's got a webpage for The conquerors, though there's no info on it yet. The look looks good, and I like the way he's archived news. Only one problem, I found a typo on the Policies Page, it misspells terms on the top links on that page. It's not big deal though.

I know this is old but...

I haven't seen it before, and it's quite a good read. What do you ask? An interview with Mike "Archangel" McCart, the Webmaster over at Ensemble Studios, and the founder of AoE Heaven. The interview was done by Ogre, and is now here. I can't tell you an exact date, but it's definatly before GameStock '99.

Zone !t Launches

This promises to be a very good site. It provides information on all the games played on the zone, the most popular place to play the Age games. Find it here.

Look what I've found...Trade Cart

Yesterday I was browsing though old Age sites, working on a new thing that I'll announce later this week, and I found a link to a ES page. I clicked on it, and as with numerous other links I had found, this one came up with a 404. But the interesting part, was that for the ES error message, they display this animation, of a lost unit. It made looking though all those old sites worthwhile. Enjoy.

New Colors

In order to make the site more consistent and easier to read, I've changed the colors for the News, hope everyone likes it.

Milestone

The Lost Isle has reached another milestone, 5000 hits! That may not seem like much, but it is a big milestone from The Lost Isle's humble beginnings, eight months ago.

New Additions

These additions to The Lost Isle seem to becoming quite frequent :-). Anyway, I just wrote a short story for you, titled "From the Perspective of a Villager." Enjoy.

I've also got a review of Roller Coaster Tycoon Demo for you.

New feature

Yep, I've added a new feature to the articles section, demo reviewing. I'm going to start reviewing every demo I play, in hopes to aid all online people while choosing which one of the thousands of demo's available on the web. To start it off, I've got a review of the new RTS/RPG, Majesty! The review of the demo can be found here, and the articles section here.

Game Dive Archived!

For all of us who were unable to attend the Game Dive show last Wednesday, you can find an archived version here. I missed this event myself, due to ISP problems, and so I'll have to set apart some time to watch it. I really want to see that lost AoK intro movie.

Daily Radar finds this out...

The folks over at Daily Radar found out this interesting quote:

Daily Radar spoke to several PC game developers about their impressions of the X-Box. Not surprisingly, most of them were thrilled with the machine's capabilities, and were confident that although Microsoft didn't actually show a working prototype, they would be able to deliver on their promise. Bob Wallace, the chief strategy officer for Ensemble Studios (Age of Empires, Age of Empires 2) told Daily Radar that he was excited about the prospects of working on the X-Box, and that Ensemble has been on board for some time. Although he didn't offer specific details, he did mention that the next manifestation of the AoE series would be in full 3D, and that the X-Box would be more than capable of hosting the title.Knight

Ultra Cool Wallpaper

Yep, you can see part of it on the right. Looks pretty awesome doesn't it? I'd really like to get a hold of some of those great looking posters, ES could probably make alot selling them online (Hint hint). You can find the wallpaper over at Ensemble Studios.

The Dolphins are back!

Thanks to Agamemnon, who created a mod for AoK that changes the marlins into dolphins that were present in alpha versions of AoK, but taken out due to a mysterious request from Microsoft... Download it here.
